FIRST LOOK: The highly anticipated documentary Shrimp Boat Sound: Echoes From the Edge remains a work in progress, with additional interviews and filming continuing ahead of its projected 2027 release. During this special presentation at Williams Hall, filmmaker Michael J. Kirk pulls back the curtain on the documentary process, sharing how the film is researched, the stories behind the interviews, never-before-seen footage, and the challenges of preserving the history of Jimmy Buffett's legendary recording studio.

Hosted by the Key West Art & Historical Society and moderated by Dr. Cori Convertito, this is a unique opportunity to experience the film as it’s being shaped—and to be part of the conversation preserving a meaningful piece of Key West history.

This feature documentary explores the legendary waterfront studio built at the southernmost edge of the United States—a place that helped shape the sound and spirit of Gulf & Western, blending country, rock, and island influence into something entirely its own.
