ANNOUNCING: Friends of Bubba Sunday After Party featuring Aaron Luka's "Songs We Know By Heart" Piano Sing Along

When Party in the Park wraps up on Sunday, September 6, take the easy two-block walk to American Legion Post 168 at 803 Emma Street for the official Friends of Bubba After Party, where everyone is invited to become part of the show.

Leading the evening is pianist, vocalist and interactive entertainer Aaron Luka, whose musical career spans jazz, dueling pianos, live piano karaoke and countless sing-alongs that turn audiences into the headliners. Aaron will take requests from the crowd and lead an evening of Jimmy Buffett favorites, Trop Rock classics and island sing-alongs where everyone knows the chorus.

Buffett fans may appreciate another connection. Early in his career, Aaron crossed paths with original Coral Reefer guitarist Roger Bartlett while performing in North Carolina, where Roger served as music director for the musical The Cowboy Café. Years later, their paths cross again during a weekend dedicated to celebrating Jimmy's music and the musicians who helped create it.

The venue itself is every bit as special.

American Legion Post 168 isn't just another room with a stage. Built in 1951 by local Black veterans during the era of segregation, it became known for generations as Key West's "Black Town Hall." The historic building was a gathering place for veterans, families and the Bahama Village community, and an important stop for touring African American entertainers. Its stage welcomed artists including James Brown, B.B. King, Otis Redding, Etta James and Key West's own Coffee Butler, preserving a rich musical legacy that still resonates today..

Today, thanks to the efforts of American Legion Post 168, the Key West Cultural Center & Veterans Museum, and local musicians and supporters, music has returned to that storied stage. The venue has become again a place where artists gather, collaborate and keep Key West's musical traditions alive. That renewed energy made Post 168 the perfect home for this year's official Friends of Bubba After Party.

The connection runs even deeper. Just around the corner, the Bahama Village Music Program—one of the charitable beneficiaries of Just a Few Friends—has spent more than two decades providing free music education to neighborhood children. Among its proudest moments was welcoming the late Robert Greenidge, Jimmy Buffett's beloved steel pan virtuoso and longtime Coral Reefer, who performed with the students, generously supported the program and inspired a new generation of young musicians.

Inside Post 168 you'll find something many will appreciate after an evening outdoors at Truman Waterfront: cold air conditioning, a dance floor, comfortable seating, real restrooms and, perhaps best of all, inexpensive drinks. Grab dinner at the Party in the Park before making the short walk to the Legion and settle in for an unforgettable finish to an epic night.

Who has the best margaritas in Key West? Find out on one of two simultaneous Margarita Bar Strolls with Just a Few Friends! Choose your adventure—stroll iconic Duval Street where Margaritaville steps up to compete or sip your way around the Historic Seaport where Surly Siren defends their title. Both routes offer at least eight beloved bars ready to serve you their signature margarita, a cold brew or a delicious mocktail, if you prefer, while they compete for your vote.
